Steps To Apply
Students interested in an undergraduate program are first accepted to Georgia State through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as pre-professional students.
A second application and admission process is necessary to gain entrance into each professional program. Select a program to view specific application requirements.
- Apply to transition from Perimeter College to the Atlanta Campus. Select Transition Request Form.
- When applying for transition, select one of the desired bachelor’s study program “pre-majors” (Nursing). You must be listed as an active degree-seeking student.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
Health Informatics
The B.I.S. in Health Informatics with a concentration in Informatics curriculum is a five full-time semester course of study beyond the first two years of the undergraduate curriculum. Because of its professional nature, students must apply for and be formally admitted to the program. Prior to admission to the program, students must complete the core curriculum. Ranking for admission is competitive, based on academic record. Student selection is based on: overall grade point average, prerequisite GPA, consistency of academic performance, grade trends and interpersonal ability as evidenced in the written personal statement.
Students are admitted to the program upon completion of the freshman and sophomore level core courses (60 credit hours ) and required program prerequisites. Students are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and letter grade of C or higher in all program prerequisite courses.
Health Science
The interprofessional rehabilitation science track offers a curriculum geared toward master's and doctorate programs in rehab fields such as occupational, and physical therapy. Entry level in these fields requires an advanced degree, and this B.I.S. track ensures students are taking the correct prerequisites.
Nursing
Start a rewarding career as a registered nurse (RN) at Perimeter College, where our convenient, affordable and flexible programs have helped aspiring nurses get their start for more than 50 years.
The program is for undergraduate students who are seeking a B.S. with a major in nursing. This program is to be completed in two years, after completion of all prerequisites.
The program in nursing accepts new students for fall and spring semesters. Students can enter Georgia State in any semester for their pre-professional course work.
Students transferring from other nursing programs can apply for transfer into the traditional or accelerated program at Georgia State.
You must be accepted by Georgia State as a degree-seeking undergraduate student before your nursing application will be reviewed. Nursing applicants who have not been accepted by Georgia State by our nursing application deadline will not be considered for admission for the semester in which they are applying. Please contact Georgia State’s Undergraduate Admissions Office about processing time for your university application.
The RN to BS completion degree enables practicing registered nurses with either an associate’s degree or diploma in nursing to earn a bachelor’s degree. The program can be completed in one year of full time study after completion of pre-requisites. A two year part-time option is also available.

Admission Procedures
Students must apply for admission to Georgia State University as transfer students and to the School of Nursing (SON). Applications can be made simultaneously, however SON admission will be contingent upon acceptance to Georgia State. Please contact SON advisers for questions about the process.
Nutrition
Students can choose one of two concentrations:
1) Nutrition Science
The Nutrition Science concentration provides a strong foundation for those interested in positions in applied sciences or for those pursuing pre-professional (medical, dental, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and dietetics) studies. After completing the core requirements, students take courses in physiology, and nutrition (required for the major) and may take additional courses in nutrition, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, and physics (electives). Students interested in eventually pursuing Georgia State's Coordinated Program, which prepares students to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN), should choose the Nutrition Science concentration.
Student outcomes associated with the Nutrition Science concentration:
- Demonstrate how to locate, interpret, evaluate, and use professional literature.
- Integrate knowledge of how nutrients function at the molecular, cellular, and organ levels in healthy and disease states.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate advocacy and negotiation skills related to nutrition or health care policy.
- Determine nutrient needs across the lifespan.
2) Nutrition and Wellness
The Nutrition and Wellness concentration prepares students for entry-level careers in the nutrition, health and wellness fields. After completing the core requirements, students take courses in nutrition and gerontology (required for major), and may take additional courses in nutrition, psychology, sociology, or other approved areas (electives). This program focuses on providing students with a well-rounded understanding of health and nutrition needs of the public over the lifespan and equips students with health communication skills. These skills and knowledge will help prepare students for positions in nutrition and wellness promotion in government agencies and private industries.
Student outcomes associated with the Nutrition and Wellness concentration:
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively deliver health information.
- Critically evaluate information on nutrition, health and wellness.
- Apply knowledge of the role of environment, food, and lifestyle choices in health and disease.
- Describe the role of essential nutrients in health promotion and disease prevention.
- Determine nutrient needs across the lifespan.
- Apply science-based evidence to integrative and functional nutrition.
- Understand current nutrition and health issues facing the public.
Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 and a science GPA of 2.5 to register for 3000 and 4000 level nutrition courses. Any grade below a C is not acceptable toward the degree. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required to receive the degree.
Respiratory Therapy
The Respiratory Therapy curriculum is a five-semester course of study beyond the first two years of the undergraduate curriculum. Because of its professional nature, students apply for admission into the program and are formally admitted at the beginning of the fall semester of their junior year.
A program for respiratory care practitioners, who have completed an associate of science degree in respiratory therapy and are registered respiratory therapists, to obtain a bachelor of science degree in respiratory care.
