The goal of this certificate is to provide student's with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively initiate, manage, and end coaching sessions with a diverse client population.
Learning Outcomes:
- Organize and guide a coaching session from beginning to end using appropriate coaching
- Apply appropriate responses to clients to reflect understanding and compassion (Reflective statements, Affirming statements, etc.)
- Differentiate a client's readiness to explore a health and well-being vision and adjust coaching appropriately.
- Accurately and appropriately incorporate health information into coaching sessions while staying within the scope of practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge of professional conduct and code of ethics
- Show competence in legal factors of coaching, including confidentiality, HIPAA, and licensure
- Understand and show competence in the scope of practice
- Identify and make appropriate referrals for services outside of your scope of practice
These outcomes focus both on the cognitive and psychomotor objectives. The Health and Wellness Coaching Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program focuses on teaching students to apply concepts early in the program so that they will be proficient in incorporating different counseling theories into their practice.
