- Biography
Dr. Sanders is a pharmacist and educator with over 14 years of experience in higher education that includes traditional classroom instruction, facilitating online courses, and experiential education. While working in clinical placement at Kaplan University, he secured affiliation agreements with healthcare facilities and coordinated externships for healthcare students across the U.S.
As part of his advanced pharmacy practice rotations during pharmacy school, he gained experience using electronic health record systems like Epic while providing patient care. After pharmacy school, he entered the field of medical affairs, a sector of the pharmaceutical industry that provides scientific and post market support for drugs. It was during this time that he served as a Medical Information Specialist (MIS) at The Medical Affairs Company, a PAREXEL company. As a MIS, Dr. Sanders collected clinical data and composed narratives for case safety reports, submitted safety reports to the FDA, and responded to medical information requests from providers and consumers. He utilized pharmacovigilance platforms and information databases, including PvNET, IRMS, and the FDA Safety Reporting Portal, in order to capture and track adverse drug event data and document medical information requests and responses.
