Dr. Lee is interested in the role of chronic stress and impaired sleep on health outcomes in family caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities. She conducted a study to identify maternal and child characteristics associated with poor mental and physical health in mothers of school-aged children with developmental disabilities and found that mothers’ poor sleep quality was significantly associated with increased risk for poor mental and physical health. Her short-term goal is to obtain funding that will allow her to further explore this problem and best ways to intervene. Her long-term goal is to promote sleep health and well-being in family caregivers of children with developmental disabilities through self-care and health promoting activities.Selected Publications
