- Biography
Dr. Jiwon Lee is a registered nurse and is originally from South Korea. She obtained a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in maternal and child health and a Ph.Din Nursing. Dr. Lee practiced in Labor and Delivery and Neurology/Neurosurgery units in both South Korea and the U.S. She is passionate about improving sleep health and health outcomes in children with developmental disabilities and their family caregivers.
Research Interests
Dr. Lee’s program of research focuses on sleep disturbance and its impact on health outcomes in family caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. She has conducted several studies describing sleep problems and factors associated with poor health outcomes in mothers of children with developmental disabilities. She used qualitative and quantitative studies, including secondary analysis of national surveys (e.g., National Survey of Children’s Health). Her long-term goal is to develop and test interventions to improve sleep health in family caregivers of children with developmental disabilities.
