- Financial aid – As an approved certificate program offered by Georgia State, the Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate program is eligible for federal financial aid.
- A focus on nutrition and health – Instructors are registered dietitians and NBHWC-certified health and wellness coaches with extensive training in nutrition, health, and wellness, in addition to clinical practice experience.
- A safe and diverse space to learn and grow - Our program takes two academic semesters to complete, and this is one of our many strong points. Our program gives you the space and time to develop skills so that when practicing, you can be confident in your coaching knowledge and ability. The change process for your clients takes time and so does the learning process!
Undergraduate Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate (In-person)
- Students must apply to Georgia State University through the standard application process.
- It is highly recommended that prospective students contact Jessica Alexander-White, MS, RD, LD, NBC-HWC ([email protected]), director of the Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate program, for advisement prior to applying to Georgia State.
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching (Online)
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
- A personal statement indicating the applicant’s interest in the program. The statement should be one to two paragraphs describing why you want to be a health coach and if you are interested in working with a specific population.
- Contact information for two professional references that can be contacted if needed (Applicants will be notified before references are contacted).

- Undergraduate Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate (In-person)
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching (Online)
Length of Program: 3 courses
Health Coaching I – offered Fall Semester Monday 12:30 – 3 pm
- Classes begin on August 26 and conclude on December 9. There will be no class on Labor Day (September 2) or during the week of Thanksgiving (November 25). The final assessment will take place at some point during the week of December 10 – 17.
Health Coaching II – offered Spring Semester Monday 12:30 - 3 pm
- Classes begin on January 13 and conclude on April 28. There will be no class on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20) or during the week of Spring Break (March 17). The final assessment will take place at some point during the week of April 29 – May 6.
Nutrition and Disease - offered Spring Semester
- Undergraduate certificate (in-person) – Monday 12:30 – 3 pm
- Post-baccalaureate certificate (online) – Asynchronous Online
Undergraduate Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate (In-person)
- Degree-seeking undergraduate student at Georgia State University or hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in any field.
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching (Online)
- A bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
