HEALTH SCIENCES
The B.I.S. in health sciences with a concentration in interprofessional rehabilitation sciences curriculum is a 60 credit hour course of study beyond the first two years of the undergraduate curriculum. Students who start as freshman at Georgia State may declare a major in the B.I.S. in health sciences program by the time they have earned 45 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 2.5 to avoid a delay in graduation. Transfer students who meet admission requirements can declare the B.I.S. in health sciences major upon acceptance to Georgia State. There is no second admissions process for the B.I.S. degree in health sciences.
This degree program tailors coursework to the students’ needs. For example, a pre-physical therapy student can take the exact science sequence needed to apply to physical therapy programs and not waste time and money at the undergraduate level with unneeded classes. Students will also have tailored global or city experiences, which are either hands-on study abroad or local clinical experiences designed for their track.
The Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences program, which requires a minimum of 60 credits, is available for full-time and part-time study, and coursework is hybrid. As part of Georgia State University, the largest urban university in Georgia, located in the heart of Atlanta, students have access to and collaborate with some of the finest healthcare facilities in the country. Exceptional learning opportunities await each student as they receive mentorship from elite faculty members to conduct state-of-the-art research projects to contribute to the scientific fields.
Students have the opportunity to present their research at local, state, national, and international meetings and learn how to be effective educators for future generations of healthcare professionals.
