Project Healthy Grandparents
Project Healthy Grandparents (PHG) is a community-based service and research program
sponsored by the Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions at Georgia State University. PHG
provides home-based nursing/health and social work services to grandparents raising
grandparents when parents are unable to do so. The families served are predominantly lowincome
and headed by grandmothers who frequently have chronic health issues such as diabetes,
hypertension, and obesity. Furthermore, the children in their care often have developmental and
behavioral disabilities.
The Director of PHG is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the program, including budget
management, fundraising, research dissemination, personnel, and programming. They work
closely with the Program Manager on each of these areas of operations. The PHG budget
comprises financial support from Georgia State, government contracts, and private funding. An
important responsibility of the Director position is participation in fundraising from foundations
and other private entities and the government. Currently, the Director oversees the six full-time
staff members and multiple part-time staff and reports directly to the Associate Dean for Nursing.
The Director also works collaboratively with the PHG Associate Director.
Qualifications:
Tenure Track
PhD or other research degree in nursing, social work, psychology, or related discipline is preferred.
Experience in research, community-based programs, and vulnerable populations is desired.
Management or supervisory experience is also preferred.
Non-Tenure Track
A master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related discipline and a minimum of two years of
teaching experience. Experience in community-based programs, and vulnerable populations is
desired. Management or supervisory experience is also preferred.
This position is a tenure track or non-tenure track faculty position with an assistant, associate, or
professor level appointment commensurate with credentials and teaching experience. The
position is a nine-month faculty appointment with partial or potentially full-time summer
employment, depending on teaching responsibilities during the summer.

Nursing
The Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions (Lewis College) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for the School of Nursing (SON). The Associate Dean provides leadership for the SON and is responsible for all components of the academic administrative portfolio. Educational programs in the SON include associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral nursing (DNP and PhD) programs delivered in a variety of formats. The SON has 45 full faculty positions and a current student body of 640. This is a twelve-month tenure-track/tenured faculty appointment.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean is responsible for the vision, leadership, and administration of all aspects of the SON academic portfolio, including evaluating and developing faculty and staff, fiscal planning, strategic planning and goal setting for the SON in concert with the College and University’s strategic plans. The Associate Dean will provide key leadership in the growth and expansion of the School’s stature as a leader in the profession locally, nationally, and globally. The Associate Dean collaborates with the Dean, other Associate Deans, Department Chairs and Program Coordinators to advance the strategic plan of the SON and GSU in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a strong research portfolio, a vision for the SON’s education, research, and service mission and effectively communicate and collaborate with others. Experience in scholarship and research development with both non-tenure and tenure track faculty is highly preferred. Qualifications include a graduate degree with a major in nursing, a PhD in nursing or related fields, current nursing licensure or eligibility for nursing licensure in Georgia, experience in an academic administrative leadership role, and eligibility for rank of Professor at time of appointment.

The Lewis College houses undergraduate and graduate programs in dental hygiene, healthcare informatics, health sciences, nutrition, and respiratory therapy and doctoral programs in occupational therapy and physical therapy in addition to the nursing programs. In the past 50+ years, the SON has prepared more than 7,000 nurses, nurse practitioners, educators, and researchers. Interdisciplinary professional education is a strong component in the college as are innovative bachelor degree programs in interdisciplinary studies.
