Regena Spratling, professor of nursing, was named a 2023 recipient of the GSU Exceptional Service Award, which recognizes impactful accomplishments in service to her profession of nursing.
Dr. Spratling serves a president-elect of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and as research methods department editor for its Journal of Pediatric Health Care. She was elected in 2020 as a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and in 2021, was inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Nurses. In 2020, she received the Southern Nursing Research Society’s Mid-Career Researcher Award for her research contributions to outcomes in nursing practice and education, health policy and population health.
Since 2012, she has served as a credentialed professional staff research nurse at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, where she has collaborated with clinicians, conducted research and mentored PhD and DNP students.
She is a member of numerous professional organizations and served as a peer reviewer for eight nursing journals. She has led the School of Nursing’s PhD program and graduate tracks and is currently serving as a nursing senator to GSU’s Faculty Senate.
