Dr. Denise W. Hines established the first scholarship in health informatics. The Denise W. Hines Scholarship in Health Informatics will be awarded in spring and fall to an undergraduate or graduate health informatics student. Dr. Hines serves on our Board of Advisors and owns eHealth Services Group.
She founded eHealth Services Group six years ago to provide the staffing needed for Georgia’s statewide health information exchange, Georgia Health Information Network (GaHIN). GaHIN is building a healthier Georgia by facilitating the use and secure exchange of electronic health information for providers to have the necessary information at the point of care, resulting in improved quality of care, better health outcomes and cost reductions.
Dr. Hines is a nationally recognized expert in healthcare technology, with more than three decades of healthcare experience in various settings, including health systems, physician offices, home health, technology vendors, consulting, state government and revenue management. She is the Chief Americas Officer for the Health Information & Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and has also served as the executive officer for the HIMSS Foundation and created and led initiatives on Women in HIT and Global Health Equity.
