In September, Georgia State University and Grady Health System celebrated the construction of a new simulation center at Georgia State as part of President Brian Blake’s investiture week with a ceremony and reception featuring renderings of the new center. The simulation center, funded by a gift from the Woodruff Foundation as part of the Georgia State/Grady partnership to increase the number of new nurses entering Grady’s workforce, is on a fast track for completion by November 2023.
The celebration occurred during national Healthcare Simulation Week 2022. John Haupert, President & CEO of Grady Health System, Dr. Michelle Wallace, Grady Executive Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer and Dr. Terri Hendry, Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing, joined Dr. Huanbiao Mo, Lewis College dean, in sharing details of the partnership and how it affects healthcare student learning, job placement and health services in downtown Atlanta.
The Grady/Georgia State partnership is fully underway with increased student clinical placements at Grady, new scholarships awarded to students and Grady nursing staff receiving adjunct faculty positions.
