The Nursing Students at Georgia State, a nursing student organization, and the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing, hosted the first annual nursing career fair for Georgia State’s undergraduate nursing students in late February.
Dr. Lois Marshall, a nurse educator and author, gave two keynote lectures. The first was on marketing yourself as a nurse, and the second was a unique approach to NCLEX success. The NCLEX is the national licensure exam that all aspiring registered nurses must take and pass for licensure. Dr. Marshall, an NCLEX expert, is the author of “Take Charge of Your Nursing Career.” Her book provides career resources from beginning a nursing career through retirement.
Students also participated in one-on-one resume reviews with the nursing faculty, took part in a Q & A panel session with nursing graduates and networked with hiring representatives from Northside Hospital, Piedmont Hospital, WellStar Health System and Walmart Healthcare. For fun, students took part in a nursing-themed escape room contest and enjoyed lunch and refreshments from local vendors.
