Dr. Joseph L. Rau, professor emeritus of respiratory therapy, donated $50,000 to create the Joseph L. Rau Research Fellowship Award, which will cover the cost of tuition for a master’s or Ph.D. RT graduate student who is interested in respiratory therapy research and education. The recipient receives a stipend and tuition waiver and must be on campus to teach or do research. The Rau gift qualified for the State Way Match, a program designed to double the gift amount for new donations to Georgia State during 2021-2022, bringing the total of this donation to $100,000.
“We hope to give the first Rau Research Fellowship in Spring 2023,” said Dr. Doug Gardenhire, chair of the Department of Respiratory Therapy.
