ATLANTA—The Georgia State University Byrdine F. Lewis College of Nursing and Health Professions undergraduate program has been ranked the top public program in Georgia and one of the top 100 nationally in the first U.S. News & World Report rankings of undergraduate nursing degree programs.
Georgia State ranked No. 96 in a tie with Mercer University, a private institution in Georgia. More than 700 undergraduate programs were ranked for the first time by the magazine.
The undergraduate rankings put Georgia State in the top 100 for all degree levels. In the spring U.S. News graduate program rankings, the master’s degree program ranked No. 97, up from No. 136 in 2021. The doctor of nursing practice degree program ranked No. 100, continuing a steady rise over previous rankings of No. 115 in 2021.
“We are honored and excited to be in the first national rankings for undergraduate nursing programs,” said Dr. Regena Spratling, associate dean and chief nursing academic officer. “This achievement shows our efforts to provide innovative and rigorous content to our students in this program and across all programs in the School of Nursing.”
“These rankings reflect not only the work of our faculty and staff but also the strong support of our clinical partners in nursing education,” said Dr. Huanbiao Mo, dean of the Lewis College.
The School of Nursing in the Lewis College offers a full spectrum of nursing degrees from an associate degree through the doctor of philosophy degree. It offers specialty bridge programs for licensed practical nurses seeking registered nurse (R.N.) licensure, R.N.s wanting to earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree and post-master’s certificates providing advanced practice nurses with specialty certification.
Since 1968, Georgia State has produced more than 7,000 nurses and nurse practitioners.
