Georgia State’s Department of Physical Therapy Combines Work and Play With Virtual CSM

The Department of Physical Therapy brought presentations on various subjects to the 2021 American Association of Physical Therapy Combined Section Meeting in February. Like most conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference was held virtual as a month-long event during which seven students and three PT faculty presented research. Students Alexander Corbett, Kim Lam, William Small, Malwin Thomas and Sydney Wright, and faculty Dr. Sujay Galen and Dr. Gena Henderson presented posters. Macie Sims and Miriah Smith, both DPT students, gave platform presentations while Dr. Anne Lorio hosted an educational session on best virtual presentation techniques.

Following the virtual conference, the Georgia State University Alumni Association and the Physical Therapy Alumni Network hosted a virtual social gathering and trivia night on February 26. From the classes of 1971 through 2018, PT alumni and faculty competed against each other in three categories of trivia: general physical therapy knowledge, pop culture and Georgia State PT for Amazon gift card prizes. Alumna Tanya Thomas won the contest.
