Dr. Regena Spratling has been named the Associate Dean and Chief Academic Officer for Nursing. Dr. Spratling, who is an associate professor and has been on the Georgia State faculty since 2012, takes over leadership of the school from Dr. Susan Kelley. Dr. Kelley is returning to the classroom after guiding the School of Nursing through a university academic program review and accreditation for the associate degree program.
A pediatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Spratling’s research focuses on medically fragile children and adolescents who also require the use of medical technology. She has a two-year $420,000 + grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research (NIH, NINR), to develop a web-based intervention for the caregivers of children who require medical technology.
An active member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and the Southern Nursing Research Society, Dr. Spratling has presented on care for medically fragile children as well as the future of pediatric nursing care.
A double Panther, Dr. Spratling earned her Ph.D. in Nursing and her master of science in nursing from Georgia State University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Georgia Baptist College of Nursing with a bachelor of science in nursing.
